Re: Editing/Viewing attachments (mainly Word and Excel) directly on server without the need to download locally
Looking for alternatives I found these 2 articles that summarize exactly what I would need:
https://mikekaganski.wordpress.com/2016/10/29/first-blog-post/
https://mikekaganski.wordpress.com/2016/11/20/integrating-libreoffice-with-sharepoint-part-2/
So the alternatives (protocol - wise) that I can see are (talking about editing in desktop version of LibreOffice / MS Office):
- WebDAV
- CMIS
I have been looking for WebDAV already and mentioned it in initial email. Looking for CMIS I found this: https://github.com/OCA/connector-cmis
However that is for integration with external CMIS server such as Alfresco. So I would need to implement CMIS server as Odoo module to achieve what I want. Will research that.
Best regards
Radovan

Re: Editing/Viewing attachments (mainly Word and Excel) directly on server without the need to download locally
Thanx for tip. However I do not really need storing the attachments in those cloud services and there is DMS module in OCA recently available. Also the version (Standard) that includes Collabora Online Office costs €3400 for 50 users. That's 30 users more than we need and also almost the price of Odoo.sh Enterprise for a year. As Pedro suggests - I am looking for the simplest deploymnet - ideally something that does not require 3rd party (besides Odoo server and client machines). You can take a look at alfodoo. https://github.com/acsone/alfodoo Alfodoo is a set of addons to seamlessly integrate an external Document Management System (Alfresco) with Odoo.Regards,Laurent MignonOn Mon, Sep 21, 2020 at 10:21 AM Johan Van Hirtum <johan@vanhirtum.be> wrote:Dear,

I don't think so. The idea is to avoid hybrid systems with multiple deployments (Odoo, OpenCloud, etc).Regards.

Re: Editing/Viewing attachments (mainly Word and Excel) directly on server without the need to download locally
One last question for today (I hope): if I understand it correctly, the role of Collabora / LibreOffice Online is to serve as WOPI server as well as to render (in browser) the GUI of Writer/Spreadsheets/Impress and allow for collaboration. I would give up on most of these - what I'd settle for would be to let users use their local installation of LibreOffice to directly edit files stored in Odoo (not to force them to download and reupload the file). I know WebDav could be used for this - so looking here for inspiration: https://github.com/OCA/server-backend/pull/61
But I am wondering if it would not be enough to create minimal set of WOPI server endpoints to allow editing from desktop installation of LibreOffice? Or that is not WOPI client?
Best regards
Radovan

Thanx for info. Will check the code of both. Will have to make an instance of 8.0 to be able to try it. Is there a reason in your opinion for this to depend on DMS (i.e. locking) or it can be done independently of it? If it can be done independently, should it be though? For starting, I think you can piggyback on dms' locking, but you'll miss a few things that attackment_lock does. You don't need attachment_action as this was just a container. nowadays all of this happens much cleaner in https://github.com/OCA/OCB/blob/13.0/addons/web/static/src/js/widgets/ attach_document.js which you can override directly > Also, is it OK to skip 4 major versions > and port to 13.0 directly? absolutely -- Your partner for the hard Odoo problems https://hunki-enterprises.com

Re: Editing/Viewing attachments (mainly Word and Excel) directly on server without the need to download locally
Holger, that is fantastic! However I am a bit afraid of 8.0 version. The module depends on few modules not migrated from 8.0 forward. Also I guess some of the functionalities are already available in DMS so the migration would not be that straightforward. I'd be willing to try to port this to 13.0 Would you be so kind and provide some pointers and advice if needed? Also, is it OK to skip 4 major versions and port to 13.0 directly? Thank you I'm quite happy with https://github.com/OCA/knowledge/tree/8.0/document_wopi but never came around to migrate this to more recent Odoo versions. Editing/Viewing attachments (mainly Word and Excel) directly on server without the need to download locally
Hello,
I am investigating a possibility of allowing somehow editing and viewing of attachments without the need to download and reupload them locally. I would like for Odoo to replace any local storage and save users from need to download/upload the files. DMS module comes to mind as a good base for orgnaizing that. I can see multiple building blocks for this but I am interested if anyone has taken this idea any further. Some of the possible building blocks could be:
- WebDav support - like https://github.com/OCA/server-backend/pull/61
- integration with Google Docs / Microsoft Web Suite / LibreOffice Online
- CMIS
- SharePoint or SharePoint like services
- possibly LibreOffice ActiveX control to stay in browser (there's similar thing for Microsoft)
I was able to access demo of Odoo 14.0 Enterprise with new possibility to create "live" spreadsheets. Don't know how that is done (is it 14.0's module google_spreadsheets?) but that won't allow for opening your own Excel nor Word files :-(
Has anyone attempted anything like this succesfully? Can you give any pointers please? Thank you
Best regards

Re: l10n-italy on apps.odoo.com
Hi all,we should have fixed licenses issues of l10n-italy repo, but we still can't find some modules on apps.odoo.com (for v12), like l10n_it_fatturapa_pec.Can anybody check? Thanks! On Thu, 13 Feb 2020 at 09:57, Pedro M. Reconcile: module to ignore "amount in transaction currency"?
Dear community, Sometimes statements contain amount in transaction currency on transactions that should be reconciled by amount, not amount_currency. Is there a module that allows that? Kind regards, Alexey

If you're interested, I submitted a new addon to cover my needs. https://github.com/OCA/account-invoicing/pull/784On Thu, Sep 3, 2020 at 10:17 PM Kevin McMenamin <Kevin.McMenamin@solnet.co.nz> wrote:Attention: This email may contain information intended for the sole use of the original recipient. The customer pricelist then determines how much of a fee should be charged. When the credit note is created the restocking fee has a quantity of -1 to effectively reduce the credit.
Happy to share if of interest

Subject: Module for charging the cost of product return by the customer.Hi Community,
I am looking for a module to apply charges on customer returns.
The idea is :
* to be able to specify per customer if return fees are applicable.
* to generate if necessary an invoice when running the return wizard. (the cost will be computed per returned product regardless of the number of units of the same product returned).I have not found a module in OCA covering this kind of need. Do you know if such a module already exists?
target version is Odoo 10.0
Regards,
Laurent Mignon

Re: OCA Virtual Booth at Odoo Experience - please help
HI all,
I hope your weeks have started well.
We've only had a couple of people sign up to help on the OCA Virtual Booth over Odoo Experience....if anyone is able to give a little bit of time to just be logged in and be able to answer questions ranging from membership to contributing that would be great.
Please reply on here or add your name to the roster spreadsheet.
Thanks to those who have added their names already, it is much appreciated.
Also, if you are attending the OCA Days 2020 Online or just want the latest t-shirt - you can now purchase merchandise here. You'll want to get in early due to delivery times being a bit longer than normal with the global situation.
Thanks,

Thank you again to the people who have reached out and said they can help over the OCA Days 2020 Online in regards to hosting etc. I'm working towards getting a bit of a timetable together for this as we have more talks confirmed. We can still take more so if this interests you please get in touch.
What we do need before this is help at the OCA Virtual Booth at the Odoo Experience. Like we normally ask at the physical event we need people to help being on the stand. The virtual booth is open both days of Odoo Experience:Rebecca- Wednesday Sept 30th - 4 pm to 10 pm (CEST)
- Thursday Oct 1st - 3:30 pm to 10 pm (CEST)
Even just an hour of your time would be amazing. We will need a few people to be online at once to help out and create the sense of community.I've set up a roster here, if you could please fill in your name, email address and company that would be great.Alternatively, you can reply on this list or to events AT odoo-community.org
Also, if you haven't sent in your talk proposal for OCA Days yet, just a reminder you have till the 15th of September to get this through.
Thanking you in advance.
