Hello,

In Odoo 16 (and maybe before, didn't test) you have a "Visibility" option on website building blocks (image, image-text ...) where you can choose to make the block visible only for specific languages.

If not available in your Odoo version I guess you could use some t-if.

sorry for non-development question but this is really so specific I cannot imagine anyone besides experts here would be able to answer.

A client has a website where on few pages there is a picture that needs to be different for different language version (because it contains embedded text in that language). The way we came out to deal with this is adding something like <t t-set="image_url" t-value="url_of_the_picture_in_default_language"/> before the image itself and then in the image itself something like <img t-att-href="image_url"/>

This way the URL value can be translated to other languages. While it works as planned unfortunately it breaks the website editor - some JS error appears and the component palette won't be loaded :-(

I have a stupid feeling I am missing some other obvious option. Any ideas please?

Hi,

we are using the ssh tunnel into odoo.sh to download and restore the latest backup located at /backup.daily/*_daily.sql.gz into another Azure Postgres database once a day.

The restore script also creates a readonly user on the odoo database so PowerBI can connect to this Azure Postgres database.

Of course the data is always from yesterday, and when you run the database restore from your odoo.sh instance, it should not take longer than 15 minutes because the ssh connection is terminated after a while.

You also need to ensure that all connections are closed on your target database when restoring the backup.

Anyhow the postgresql database is not supposed to be directly used, because it will ignore all information and structure provided by the ORM. So xml-rpc or json-rpc would be the interface to use for connecting to Odoo data. This is also fully supported by odoo.sh/

That being said "the code ist obfuscated" is already enough not to feed such a modul with credentials to the database. I wouldn't need an argument other than this to avoid using it ;-)

Same hier. In our case VPN is definitely prefered but the approach is the same. Direct "read restricted" access to the PG Instance is sufficently fine for PowerBI reports / analysis of all sorts

Inquiry on Connecting Odoo.sh with Power BI for Odoo v15, v16 and v17

Thank you Vincent.

Unfortunately that won't match the needed reception workflow, that is more specific:
You scan the Kit SKU, the we know explodes into parts, and we then only scan the part SNs without the need to scan their Product barcodes.

And the warehouse is too simple to use the shopfloor app.
I'm looking at a Delivery Order form feature.

I guess I'll have to create something new for this.

Did you try https://github.com/OCA/wms/tree/14.0/stock_reception_screen ?

From the module, you validate the reception, lot number, packaging and put everything in a box with a SSID.

Then you just scan the SSID to pick the box.

You can then use shopfloor to manage the box with SSID.

On the way to create those modules I got few challenges to I change a bit the behaviour on this first version

* `page-break-[before|afeter|inside]` only applies on block elements which `<tr>` aren't by default, that why

the first PR `report_qweb_table_pagebreak` is splitting table and manage page break at <table> level

* adding new kind of line (like note or section) on sale order line or account move line would be the best

behaviour I would implement as expected behaviour for end user but I'm a bit scared about the impact

on existing code to ignore those lines so I forgot that idea (I haven't test to be honest)

* adding a boolean field on sale order line is pretty straightforward except for section where we should implement

a widget to allow to manage the attribute from the form view

So I end up with this first solution which will try to avoid breaking pages inside each section which could be improved

later to give even more control.

only thing I know is that it's possible to manually add "page-break-before: always;" to certain elements. So once you know how many rows fit on a page, you could adjust the QWEB generation to add page breaks at the right places. This doesn't take into account page margins however, so probably your way is better.

From what I can understand the management of carrier deliveries with packages is super complex either from a functional and developing point of view as the delivery package definition is a bit clunky by itself.

I finally understood that you still need to you need to define a "delivery package" associated with carrier, because dimension and weight data cannot be not taken from package directly. They are taken instead from each "delivery package" linked with a picking "package".. but you still have to define both package and delivery package to access packaging data because picking structure will be like

picking > multiple packages (stock.quant.packages) > every package has packaging_id (product.packaging) (which is designed to be product specific unless you define it as a "delivery packages", aka a "product.packaging" object without product id 😵‍💫 )

If this is correct and someone has taken the trouble to read until this point, maybe you could also confirm that it is possible to speed up (a lot) the whole process by generating multiple "packaging" objects from a sale order and automatically recreate the structure

> picking > packages > delivery packages

by automatically generating

- 1 package containing all products and

- n° fake packages (containing no products, or a dummy product..)

- link every package to one of previously defined delivery packages (this workflow can be activated, for example, by clicking put in pack if a custom option is selected on picking.. to avoid conflicts with normal workflows)

Of course this is possible only if you manage the whole delivery in a single picking, like we do.

Seems like it's going to be more challenging than I thought but it seems like it can be done, unfortunately I don't think that we already have designed a workflow for this situation.

I think that if I want to provide this feature and keep a decent level of scalability/extensibility I need to:

1 - make possible for backend user to generate n° stock.quant.package objects from a sale order (simply adding a one2many relation with stock.quant.package, in Sale Order)

2 - use stock_quant_package_dimension to allow setting dimensions and automatic volume calculation from the Sale Order as well

3 - when the outgoing picking is generated by confirming order (as I previously said we have a really simplified picking process but this part will still probably be a bit tricky in case of picking and/or order cancel)
3a) all sale order packages will be automatically attached to the outgoing picking by setting them on "picking.package_ids"
3b) all the products will automatically be put in a single pack, the other packs will be "fake packs" in the sense that they will not store any products but still has dimensions

This will not provide huge advantages by itself, but definitely better than having separate model to manage "shipping packs" delivery rate and tracking. Tracking will not be really accurate as it doesn't target products, but the rate we need to get is always based on taxable weight, so it should be a decent solution. I'm still not sure if it's worth to manage "package_id" on stock.quant.package, if I am not wrong that's needed in order to print shipping label.

If you have any kind of suggestions that comes from experience in developing similar workflows (TLDR generating packages from sale order without having to specify the pack content) it will be helpful for sure.

Long time ago I've been asked to make implementations for a workflow when we need to define product packaging objects in a Sale Order so that we can store packaging dimensions, compute the proper rate and send some info to the carrier.

We don't want to define any package on sale order line, or link specific products to a packaging: we just need to define an X number of packaging objects related to the sale order.
Also, we want to do it from sale order because we adjust product lines accordingly to the "on hand quantity" directly on sale order, before picking generation, plus we don't manage backorder in the classic Odoo way, so picking is basically only "validate" for us.

I already have developed the workflow, but it's not properly integrated with some Odoo modules/models so I want to make some refactors and possibly integrate it with some OCA modules like product_packaging_dimension to use already implemented features when possible.

But I did not find anything covering this, possibly did I miss it?
