OCA - Odoo Experience Virtual Booth - any more volunteers?
Hello OCA Contributors,--
Odoo Experience is next week - 30th Sept and 1st Oct and we still need your help!
We had a few people sign up to be in attendance at the booth (thank you) but we need more. The times are as follows:Wednesday September 30th: 3:30pm to 10pm (CEST)
Thursday October 1st: 3pm to 10pm (CEST)
You'll find a roster here, if you are able to help out with just an hour or even half hour we would love to have you onboard.
We are hoping to drive traffic from here to the OCA Days in mid October. Questions are often around membership and how to start contributing etc. And if you have trouble answering any questions you can always get details and we can follow up from our side.
It would be great to have at least 3-4 people on at all times to keep a bit of buzz goingPlease fill in the spreadsheet if you can help and I'll be in touch with more details etc.
Warmest regards,
RebeccaRebecca GellatlyGeneral SecretaryOdoo Community Association

Weird issue: database does not run tests
Hello, I found this issue, and it is puzzling me, so I wonder if someone out there has some idea. While creating a new module, using a dev database with demo data, at some point I added tests. However, these tests don't get to run. I'm sure their Python files are being loaded, but the test runner is not executing them. It is not like they are failing because of wrong data, They're simply not being executed, After several trial and errors, I got them running after creating a new database and running them on this database. So everything is the same: the code, the conf file, the system environment, ... But test run in database B and not in database A! Why would that be? This was using Odoo 12. Thanks for any insights Daniel Reis Open Source Integrators

Re: Weird issue: database does not run tests
Thank you all for your ideas.
I believe Moises has hit the nail in the head.
Looking at the database, I found that my custom module didn't have the demonstration data flag set:
12-work=# select demo, count(*) from ir_module_module where state='installed' group by demo;
demo | count
------+-------
f | 2
t | 36
(2 rows)
I tried the following:
12-work=# update ir_module_module set demo=True where state='installed' and demo=False;
UPDATE 2
After doing this, tests are now executed as expected. \o/
I still think this there is an Odoo framework bug somewhere, but it least the case is identified and a workaround to save the database was found.
Thanks again
Daniel

Hi Daniel
I noticed recently that if a module has errors loading data demo Odoo will disable it only for that module without errors but warnings.
Could you check if the boolean "ir_module_module.demo" is True or not for that module?

Re: Weird issue: database does not run tests
One of our developers just had this issue with a single module. The tests would run in a copy of the production database, but not in a fresh and empty database.I asked him to install the module manually from the UI in the empty database and turns out that a dependency was missing in the manifest file and the module failed to install. This dependency was present in the copy of the production database and that's why the tests worked just fine there.--

Define permissions in website (frontend)
Hello,How would I grant access to a website but only for a res_partner fulfilling a condition?user case is publishing a list that is only accessible to partners who have "condition = True".Another option would be to have a public page protected by a single password. Maybe in a popup? Is there a module that could help? any pointer?I was thinking to get in the controller, the user's id from the session and then conditionally return the required data but maybe there is an easier way?Thank you--Yves Goldbergodoo| Official Partner - OCA delegateOpen Source ERP, CRM & CMST +972 (3) 720 8818

Hello Yves,
You can also enable authentication for specific URI in proxy configuration, depending on your target architecture it might be easier to deploy than overriding Odoo controllers but it will not be configurable by end users.

Re: Define permissions in website (frontend)
Hi,With module auth_signup you have a auth_signup_uninvited system parameter, then if you set it to False only users with login can access your website. That access can be granted by portal wizard action to users you wish as well.El mié., 23 sept. 2020 a las 17:07, Yves Goldberg (<yves@ygol.com>) escribió:Hello,How would I grant access to a website but only for a res_partner fulfilling a condition?user case is publishing a list that is only accessible to partners who have "condition = True".Another option would be to have a public page protected by a single password. Creation of the 14.0 branches
Hi folks,For the creation of the 14.0 branches in OCA repos, the plan is to use the new addons repository template that was created during the Spanish OCA days back in May: https://github.com/OCA/oca-addons-repo-templateThere a few questions to answer beforehand, so if you are interested in that topic, head to https://github.com/OCA/oca-addons-repo-template/issues/7 to follow and comment there.Best regards,-sbi--

User friendly interface for managing translations from user point of view
Hello, we have some description fields in our custom models we need to get translated. I know everything about the standard odoo mechanism, but I’m thinking about something more maintainable by end users. So what I’m looking for is a more user friendly interface for users to access the stored translations for a field. More user friendly than switching their own language preference or going into edit mode and press this little globe button that leads to ir.translation. Do you know something like that? Maybe has anybody already written widgets for this? I could imagine something similiar like this globe button, but also vissible in read mode, opening a popup for changing the language only for that field for a moment, or something like that. Any hinds? Thanks, regards, Peter

Re: User friendly interface for managing translations from user point of view
I think there is a minor bug. I tried it in odoo v12 and got some error about maxLength. However since I only use it for a form with only translatable fields of type Text, the error is gone, so I assume there is something wrong for fields of type Char, but I didn’t investigate further though. Hi Christian, well i wouldn't say its perfectly easy to use but a way better than the standard function. @Peter: If that woul be integrated with automated translation that'll be a good improvement i guess. odoo as oauth2 provider
Hello everyone, Do you know how I can set up Odoo to act as an OAuth provider, in the case I have at hand, this is to allow SSO from an external website of my customer. Thanks -- Alexandre Fayolle Chef de Projet Tel : +33 4 58 48 20 30 Camptocamp France SAS 18 rue du Lac Saint André 73 370 Le Bourget-du-Lac France http://www.camptocamp.com

Editing/Viewing attachments (mainly Word and Excel) directly on server without the need to download locally
Hello,
I am investigating a possibility of allowing somehow editing and viewing of attachments without the need to download and reupload them locally. I would like for Odoo to replace any local storage and save users from need to download/upload the files. DMS module comes to mind as a good base for orgnaizing that. I can see multiple building blocks for this but I am interested if anyone has taken this idea any further. Some of the possible building blocks could be:
- WebDav support - like https://github.com/OCA/server-backend/pull/61
- integration with Google Docs / Microsoft Web Suite / LibreOffice Online
- CMIS
- SharePoint or SharePoint like services
- possibly LibreOffice ActiveX control to stay in browser (there's similar thing for Microsoft)
I was able to access demo of Odoo 14.0 Enterprise with new possibility to create "live" spreadsheets. Don't know how that is done (is it 14.0's module google_spreadsheets?) but that won't allow for opening your own Excel nor Word files :-(
Has anyone attempted anything like this succesfully? Can you give any pointers please? Thank you
Best regards

RE: Editing/Viewing attachments (mainly Word and Excel) directly on server without the need to download locally
Dear,
That’s true. You need to build your own Nextcloud / Alfresco… Not simple.. And then you have to maintain that… with some changes in the Python CMIS library so now and then, and with changes in basic models of Odoo each year ( even after 14 versions, Odoo seems still not to know how a customer, product, invoice, sales or accounting line object must be, so Odoo keep on changing these, want is a big pain ! ). Success ! We have worked a year on a solution and stopped the project because the result was not what we had hoped… )

RE: Editing/Viewing attachments (mainly Word and Excel) directly on server without the need to download locally
Dear,
The Alfresco solution is also a possibility. Alfresco is much more powerful the Nextcloud, but also much more complicated… And I like the Nextcloud Odoo module, because in Odoo, the basics remain completely as without. The attachments are present as usual in Odoo. You can use Nextcloud to work with the attachments and to create or kill new ones. You can use the attachment mechanism of Odoo as normally too. You can even choose with models have a Nextcloud map structure and with not ( for some smaller models with few static attachments, you may not need another mechanism ). In the Alfresco module, there is an extra tab for the Alfresco connection.
But when you need the advanced Alfresco possibilities, of course Alfresco is a great solution.

Re: Editing/Viewing attachments (mainly Word and Excel) directly on server without the need to download locally
Is this what they use for "live" spreadsheets in 14.0? I wonder why they didn't allow for editing other xls/xlsx/... files. This would certainly be an option for "simpler" files. I can imagine more complicated files. Also Word/Writer and PowerPoint/Impress files remains... But great point. Thank you. Reconcile: module to ignore "amount in transaction currency"?
Dear community, Sometimes statements contain amount in transaction currency on transactions that should be reconciled by amount, not amount_currency. Is there a module that allows that? Kind regards, Alexey

[26132] Status of the EBICS Integration
Dear fellow Odooers, being asked by a customer and coming across FinTech and banking again i stumbled on the EBICS standard and tried to make sense of the current implementation status in Europe / Germany and the overall functionality. As i have read, French as well as Swiss banks (among the Germans) are following this bank integration standard and slowley but constantly replace their older HBCI / FinTS interfaces in favor of EBICS. However, at least for Germany i found the bank infrastructure quite underdeveloped. For instance only German DZ-Bank seems to officially offer a sandbox to test the integration and only to their customers. I therefore wonder if there is any partner out there (maybe the folks at Akretion and Noviat know) that is using the integration with a German bank (and if so against which test environment has it been tested)? I saw that Zürcher Kantonalbank of Switzerland has a test environment but obviously doesn't follow the whole standard, so that is not really useful for the standard case (which should hopefully be applied in Germany) https://github.com/OCA/bank-payment/issues/465 As far as i can see the implementation can for now hand in SEPA mandates to banks, but does it also receive a list of payments for SEPA as well as NON-SEPA payments from the bank to be reconciled with open invoices or is that still something that needs to be done manually (with flat files)? RE: [26132] Status of the EBICS Integration
The account_ebics module suite works on top of OE as well as OC.
There is an account_ebics_oe module that auto_installs in case of OE.
There is imho little added value in using OE when it comes to EBICS.
We support the OCA payment order as well as the OE batch_payment.
The bank statement parsing in the account_ebics module uses the OCA as well as the OE parsers (by calling the account_bank_statement_import wizard).
In order for the import to work on IBAN as well as local account numbers I recommend to also install the account_bank_statement_import_helper (which I proposed one day to the OCA but never got merged, hence download it from github.com/Noviat/noviat-apps).
Concerning sandboxes:
Also Credit Suisse has a sandbox environment.

Luc

New Discord Group for OCA
Dear OCA Contributors,In preparation for the upcoming OCA Days we have created a new Discord Group intended to facilitate the communication during the event. We think that this tool can also be useful after the event, as a platform for contributors to communicate with each other. The system allows to maintain multiple channels, that can be created on request. We have activated a temporary invitation URL that you can use to request access to the group https://discord.gg/tNby4ku. Please feel free to join! In order to facilitate the identification, we would appreciate it if you could use the same name as your github account, perhaps followed by the company name if it provides more clarification.Once the OCA Days are over we will close this link in order to avoid unnecessary spam, and you will be able to request access by sending an email to discord-membership@odoo-community.org.I'm looking forward to meeting you all at the OCA Discord Group!Regards,--Jordi Ballester AlomarCEO & Founder | ForgeFlow(+34) 629530707 | jordi.ballester@forgeflow.com | https://www.forgeflow.comTwitter: https://twitter.com/jordibforgeflow | Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jordiballesteralomar

Internal Transfer from Reconcile
Dear community, Is there a way to create Internal Transfers from the reconciling mode? Kind regards, Alexey

Currency exchange as Internal Transfer reconcile
Dear community, I’m struggling to figure out the proper way to reconcile following case: There’s Bank Account A (USD) with balance of 0 USD and Bank Account B (EUR) with balance of 10 EUR. I do a currency exchange with online banking and it becomes 11.79 USD and 0 EUR. I’m recording this transaction as Internal Transfer in Odoo, transferring 10 EUR from Bank Account B (EUR) to Bank Account A (USD). I can reconcile that in EUR journal since 10 EUR is 10 EUR, but when I try to reconcile USD journal, it has 11.79 USD transaction (from bank statement) but Odoo uses own exchange rate and suggests that there was an operation for 11.81 USD. I’d expect either to be able to provide own rate (in Internal Transfer), but that’s not really correct. Or the difference to be recorded as realized gain/loss? What to do in this case?

Module for charging the cost of product return by the customer.
Hi Community,I am looking for a module to apply charges on customer returns. The idea is :
* to be able to specify per customer if return fees are applicable.
* to generate if necessary an invoice when running the return wizard. (the cost will be computed per returned product regardless of the number of units of the same product returned).I have not found a module in OCA covering this kind of need. Do you know if such a module already exists?target version is Odoo 10.0Regards,Laurent Mignon

Projects - send one invoice per customer
Hello Contributors, I have a requirement that, as far as i can see, there are no OCA modules available to help with. We are billing time on projects. Out of the box, Odoo is capable of generating one invoices for each project. I would like to be able to send out invoices by customer. So if a customer has two active projects, he would get a single invoice for both of them. Any suggestions? Thanks Daniel Reis Open Source Integrators Europe

Re: Projects - send one invoice per customer
Hi Daniel,Could this possibly be useful?Haven't used the module myself yet, but I like the idea of detaching the billing document from journal entries.--Yoshi TashiroOn Thu, Sep 3, 2020 at 9:17 PM Daniel Reis <dreis@opensourceintegrators.com> wrote:Indeed, I forgot to mention the target version.I’m targeting v12, and v13 features are also relevant, since I would consider backporting them, rather than developing something different for v12.Thank you for the additional details Pedro and Fekete, I’ll try them out.ThanksDanielNo dia 03/09/2020, às 12:11, Pedro M. Re: Projects - send one invoice per customer
Very interesting Pedro, I like the "tackle problems from the source" approach. Is there a module in v12 to invoice only once a month (for instance) all the contract lines that may have different invoice dates? If not, this would probably be the way to go indeed, to avoid the multiple glue modules you mention. For instance in v10 I had to develop 3 glue modules to merge contract-generated invoices per partner (one to mark the invoices we want to merge, one to trigger the merge, one to autopay the resulting merged invoice)!. This will be easier in v12 with one invoice date per contract line: generating a single invoice for the contract should be pretty straightforward. Regards. Le 03/09/2020 à 12:36, Pedro M. Re: Projects - send one invoice per customer
I totally discourage the use of such module, as you have a lot of side effects from that "merging", and this is shown on the high number of glue modules you need. Instead, you have to attack the problem on the source.Anyway, Daniel, please get used to indicate the Odoo version for which you want to achieve that goal, as the possible solutions vary depending on this factor. For >= v12, you can use the same analytic account on several projects, so you can invoice everything from the same sales order, and from v13, as Fekete has said, you can invoice "in batch" for getting them merged on the fly.Regards.

OCA Virtual Booth at Odoo Experience - please help
Hello OCA Contributors,
Thank you again to the people who have reached out and said they can help over the OCA Days 2020 Online in regards to hosting etc. I'm working towards getting a bit of a timetable together for this as we have more talks confirmed. We can still take more so if this interests you please get in touch.
What we do need before this is help at the OCA Virtual Booth at the Odoo Experience. Like we normally ask at the physical event we need people to help being on the stand. The virtual booth is open both days of Odoo Experience:Rebecca- Wednesday Sept 30th - 4 pm to 10 pm (CEST)
- Thursday Oct 1st - 3:30 pm to 10 pm (CEST)
Even just an hour of your time would be amazing. We will need a few people to be online at once to help out and create the sense of community.I've set up a roster here, if you could please fill in your name, email address and company that would be great.Alternatively, you can reply on this list or to events AT odoo-community.org
Also, if you haven't sent in your talk proposal for OCA Days yet, just a reminder you have till the 15th of September to get this through.
Thanking you in advance.

Re: OCA Virtual Booth at Odoo Experience - please help
HI all,
I hope your weeks have started well.
We've only had a couple of people sign up to help on the OCA Virtual Booth over Odoo Experience....if anyone is able to give a little bit of time to just be logged in and be able to answer questions ranging from membership to contributing that would be great.
Please reply on here or add your name to the roster spreadsheet.
Thanks to those who have added their names already, it is much appreciated.
Also, if you are attending the OCA Days 2020 Online or just want the latest t-shirt - you can now purchase merchandise here. You'll want to get in early due to delivery times being a bit longer than normal with the global situation.
Thanks,
