DMS: uploading xml files bypassing svg mimetype
Dear contributors,I am using DMS module on odoo14 to implement some shared backend data storage.By the way thanks for sharing this module, it's a powerful resource.I have succeeded in uploading some XML files by python code and they are uploaded with an "image/svg+xml" mimetype: this is ok but causes "my_file.xml" to be downloaded in .svg format while I need them to be directly downloaded as .xml (extension is correctly computed as xml).At the moment a simple way to solve this is by inheriting mimetype computing function and forcing mimetype by using context when creating records from code in a specific workflow@api.depends("content")
def _compute_mimetype(self):
super(File, self)._compute_mimetype()
for record in self:
force_mimetype = self.env.context.get("force_mimetype")
if force_mimetype:
record.mimetype = force_mimetype
Actually my guess is that any non-mapped odoo.tools mimetype will lead the "download" button to ignore the mimetype and download file with the proper extension. This also makes me think why "mimetype" has priority over the "extension" for download, but I am more interested to know if there is a proper way to avoid this behaviour.I am not confident with data upload from code so I am wondering if I'm missing something that can be done only in create method, without having to inherit the module source code.Best Regards--Francesco Ballerini

Re: DMS: uploading xml files bypassing svg mimetype
I answer myself: I forgot to install python-magic library which is not mandatory but advised in module documentation. It came back to me when I had to solve another issue, then I realized python-magic also helps to correctly compute xml mimetype to "text/xml".Best Regards--Francesco BalleriniIl giorno sab 4 nov 2023 alle ore 19:57 Francesco Ballerini <francescobl.lavoro@gmail.com> ha scritto:Dear contributors,I am using DMS module on odoo14 to implement some shared backend data storage.By the way thanks for sharing this module, it's a powerful resource.I have succeeded in uploading some XML files by python code and they are uploaded with an "image/svg+xml" mimetype: this is ok but causes "my_file.xml" to be downloaded in .svg format while I need them to be directly downloaded as .xml (extension is correctly computed as xml).At the moment a simple way to solve this is by inheriting mimetype computing function and forcing mimetype by using context when creating records from code in a specific workflow@api.depends("content")

Guidance Request for Pull Request Submission - Backporting agreement_rebate module from v15 to v14
Dear OCA contributors,
I am currently working on backporting the agreement_rebate module from Odoo version 15 to version 14 for integration into the OCA/contract repository. I have noticed that the module operates flawlessly on version 14.
However, I am aware there might be nuances or specific OCA standards that I should adhere to ensure a successful and compliant integration. I have already forked and integrated the module into the local repository, but before proceeding with the PR submission, I wish to ensure that all OCA standards and requirements are met.
I would be very grateful if you could provide guidance or recommendations on specific steps or modifications I should undertake to properly prepare and submit this PR. Your expertise and advice would be invaluable to ensure a smooth process and adherence to OCA community expectations.
I am ready to provide any additional information required and work collaboratively with community members to achieve this backporting successfully. Thank you in advance for your time and assistance.
Warm regards,
Nazaire ADJAKOUN

Installing Odoo on ubuntu desktop is suitable for production?
Dear contributors,It would be really helpful to me if you can give me an hint on this.I premise I have very low experience with odoo maintenance as I'm generally engaged with developement area.I mantain a couple of very simple instances with ubuntu server but I need to build and be active in the mantainance process of a more complex instance, with e-Commerce logic involved. It's been an year I work on server version and I got used to it pretty much, despite that I wonder if it's really worth to lose GUI feature to save some resources for an Odoo instance, so I am considering dropping server version in favour of desktop. In the logic of an Odoo server mantainer is this crazy or fairly acceptable?Regards-----Francesco Ballerini

Francesco,
Docker is much easier as all needed scripts already inside. The best answer will be just to check official docs on docker hub. But there are lots and lots of videos and articles in internet https://hub.docker.com/_/odoo/

Abandoning python 2, Odoo <= 10
Hi everyone,As time goes by, it becomes harder and harder to support very old and unsupported python versions, as libraries and tooling stop supporting it.Moreover, the growing number of branches place an increasing burden on our infrastructure (bot, weblate, etc). Therefore the board proposes to drop support for Python 2 and therefore Odoo <= 10.0.Concretely, this means the branches will remain available for ad-hoc collaboration or bug fixes, but we will stop maintaining tooling: CI (travis will soon be stopped), weblate sync, bot, publishing to PyPI etc. This may happen soon as we clean up things while preparing for Odoo 17. In the future we will consider having an explicit version support policy, but I suspect the main decision criteria will be tool maintenance burden.Best regards,-Stéphane

At some point it will break down, yes, if only because CI will be red.

EAN 13 pattern with barcodes_generator_product
Hi,I'm trying to use https://github.com/OCA/stock-logistics-barcode/tree/14.0/barcodes_generator_product to generate barcodes using GS1 barcodes purchased by customer.I see in the readme the example:For example, a typical pattern for products is "20.....{NNNDD}" that means that: * the EAN13 code will begin by '20' * followed by 5 digits (named Barcode Base in this module) * and after 5 others digits to define the variable price * a 13 digit controlThe pattern I'd like to implement is 8069235 + 5 digits provided by barcode base + 1 check digit. How does this translate in the format from the example ("20.....{NNNDD}")? Does any one have any reference guide for this? Thanks!

DMS: Multiple file download (backend)
Dear contributors,I am new to repository https://github.com/OCA/dms/tree/14.0 and I have a few doubtsin RoadMap I see- Allow to download folder in portal and create zip file with all content
so I assumed this was already possible in backend, but I did not find a way myself. Is there a way, in backend, to download all files contained in a folder or, even better, selecting multiple files from tree-view and download a zip with only those specific files? Thanks, best regards--Francesco Ballerini

No. It was just that on the backend, it seems less interesting.Regards.

OCA Delegates Campaign 2023....closing soon.....
Hello OCA Contributors--Just a reminder the OCA 2023 delegates campaign closes at 11:59pm UTC on the 22nd October. We currently have 9 applicants. This is the pathway to becoming a board member. You must be a delegate to be able to apply for a board member role. We are hoping for a good selection of delegates to apply for the 2024 board in the next part of the AGA - a number of our existing board members won't be standing for re-election.2023 DELEGATES CAMPAIGNThe 2023 OCA Delegates Campaign is open. Until October 22nd, you can apply to be an OCA Delegate if you are a current paid Member. If you are already a Delegate, you don't need to apply again. This is for 10 new Delegates.
Why?
The Delegate Assembly is the Association’s supreme authority. Each Delegate member is entitled to one vote at the Delegate Assembly. Decisions of the Delegate Assembly are taken by a majority vote of the Delegate members present and voting. For further details, please read the Bylaws.
How?
To apply as a candidate, you have to:• sign the CLA (if not already done)• have a valid membership. Make sure to purchase your membership or renew it (you should have received a quotation for your renewal earlier this year).• if you aren't sure if you have renewed/paid your membership for 2023 please contact me.The campaign will be closed on October 22nd, 2023.Then what?
The vote will be open from October 24th - November 4th, 2023. Current OCA Delegates will have to vote for 10 new Delegates among the candidates.
The results of the election will be announced on November 6th, 2023.
The 10 new Delegates will then take part with the existing Delegates in :• the 2023 OCA Board Member Campaign from November 6th - 17th, 2023• the 2023 OCA Financial Auditor Campaign from November 6th - 17th, 2023• the 2023 General Assembly from November 20th to December 1st, 2023.Rebecca GellatlyGeneral SecretaryOdoo Community Association

You should dive a bit into the project documentation to fine tune your question. Dear contributors,
Does anyone know if there is a module that can be used to limit the discounts applied to an order by a salesperson, or even to maintain a minimum margin on each product ?
I tried to do this using the price lists, but without success.

Hi Michel, Hello everyone!
I get the feeling that everyone here has a discret enthusiasm :)
I'm really excited that OCA days are coming up, it will be a first for
me. For me, these will be 2 days fully dedicated to Odoo and OCA. I hope
it will be a chance to meet people and perhaps join a "team". To feel
more integrated and to get more involved!
Looking forward to seeing you all there!
Is there a dedicated place where participants can discuss stuff like
lodging/logistics and organize carpooling ?

Hi Michel, Hello everyone!
I get the feeling that everyone here has a discret enthusiasm :)
I'm really excited that OCA days are coming up, it will be a first for
me. For me, these will be 2 days fully dedicated to Odoo and OCA. I hope
it will be a chance to meet people and perhaps join a "team". To feel
more integrated and to get more involved!
Looking forward to seeing you all there!
Is there a dedicated place where participants can discuss stuff like
lodging/logistics and organize carpooling ?

configuring 'Account Banking SEPA Direct Debit'
Hi all, I am new to the list and of course I am hear because I am having some troubles using odoo community. We have been trying to implement the plugin ''Account Banking SEPA Direct Debit' on a Odoo version 12 as described in the README of the package on https://odoo-community.org/shop/account-banking-sepa-direct-debit-101#attr=4933. The idea is that we would create the opportunity to have people pay their monthly invoice in this way. I do have some basic understanding of Sepa Direct Debit (using it in CiviCRM for instance) but now I am afraid I really don't find a clue on how to proceed in Odoo. I tried creating mandates and invoices but couldn't find how to create the necessary xml's to send to the bank. I tried to follow the tutorial on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjRClrVPHzo but don't get all the same options either (logical because it is not the community edition I guess). Maybe we are missing some really basic thing or the installation is not correct, but if we anyone coud point me to some information or would be willing to help out a bit (we could even consider paying a small amount for support), I would be really grateful. Thank you! Stijn

Re: configuring 'Account Banking SEPA Direct Debit'
Hi Frederik, thank you for the references.
On the link you sent I read that there is a dependency on '
account_direct_debit'but I don't see that module in the repository, nor do I find it in our install (I have no technical access to the install but I have to ask a colleague).Could that be the problem?
Stijn
Op 17/10/2023 om 18:56 schreef Frederik Kramer:
HI Stijn,
you may have a look into the entirety of modules with regard to the overarching functionality. Asuming you have Odoo V12 CE the entrypoint would be
https://github.com/OCA/bank-payment/tree/12.0
and all modules you find there (but these are significantly fewer than in later versions of Odoo).
There are plenty of experts on Odoo and the specific matter in your region (Belgium and Belgian Banks) that you may consult on further assistance with that.
You may ask people at Acsone, CoopITEasy, Noviat to name just a few of them
Hope that helps at least a bit.
Best Frederik

Re: configuring 'Account Banking SEPA Direct Debit'
HI Stijn,
you may have a look into the entirety of modules with regard to the overarching functionality.

I tried to follow the tutorial on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjRClrVPHzo but don't get all the same options either (logical because it is not the community edition I guess). Maybe we are missing some really basic thing or the installation is not correct, but if we anyone coud point me to some information or would be willing to help out a bit (we could even consider paying a small amount for support), I would be really grateful. Thank you! Stijn

Becoming a maintainer in l10n-poland
Hello,
I would like to become a maintainer of the l10n-poland repository. https://github.com/OCA/l10n-poland I created a PR there in March and without dedicated maintainers it is still waiting to be merged. I would like to clean up the repo, merge all pending PRs there and migrate the module to other versions.
I am an active Odoo developer with over 10 years of experience. In terms of contributions, in the last 6 months I have been translating odoo to polish (from ~40% to ~95%).
Here is my github profile: https://github.com/TadeuszKarpinski
and LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/tadeusz-jan-karpi%C5%84ski-01b0b9137/

Re: Becoming a maintainer in l10n-poland
Right now, the maintainers is "the local poland maintainers" https://github.com/orgs/OCA/teams/local-poland-maintainersSo, them might be able to merge PRs there.El vie, 13 oct 2023 a las 10:42, Pedro M. Re: Becoming a maintainer in l10n-poland
And in this case, the contribution is of a transversal module, not the localization core, so becoming a PSC may be too much.Regards.

OCA Days and Delegates Campaign for the Annual AGA
Hello OCA Contributors,I hope this email finds you well.
Just to let you know of a few things happening at the moment:OCA DAYS 2023:This is now sold out. Thank you so much for the early support. We will be filming the talks and are looking forward to sharing them widely following the event. The full agenda of talks will be on the website from early next week.SOCIAL EVENTS FOR THE OCA DAYS
For those that have registered but haven't RSVP'd to the social events please do so now, we need to know by the end of this week - just a couple of quick surveys with a yes or no and any dietary requirements. We need to get our catering orders in ASAP and want to make sure we have everyone covered:The Monday RSVP survey also has dietary requirements for the lunches, so please click the link.Even if you aren't planning on sticking around on Monday for dinner and music it is helpful to know that too but we've got a food truck and drinks waiting to be consumed and would love to spend time with you.VOLUNTEER HELPWe have number of times we need help from our attendees:- Sunday afternoon - We need help to set up the main room for the codesprint and chill out areas. It went super quick and easy last year with many hands making light work then heading to the evening social afterwards. If you can help let us know please.
- Talk rooms, technical and functional - this will involve introducing speakers, making sure cameras are running and just helping things to go with the flow. If you are interested in helping with this please let me know. I'll have a roster set up next week following the release of the agenda but having a pool of people to call on will make this task much easier.
2023 DELEGATES CAMPAIGNThe 2023 OCA Delegates Campaign is open.
The 10 new Delegates will then take part with the existing Delegates in :• the 2023 OCA Board Member Campaign from November 6th - 17th, 2023• the 2023 OCA Financial Auditor Campaign from November 6th - 17th, 2023• the 2023 General Assembly from November 20th to December 1st, 2023.If you have any questions please get in touch.
