    Hello All,

    We have played with this codebase https://github.com/hachecito/odoo-mcp-improved - It is quite impressive and has potential to extend the functionality. However, for practical usage in production in environment we have to rewrite the majority of the code

    1. To support remote mcp with http streaming
    2. Session management
    3 The current implementation of analysis tools needed to be optimised avoiding getting every single transaction which could easily blow up the context and in no time out of the token limit.

    With the changes we have done it has provided every user to authenticated with their odoo account - From security perspective they are allowed to access only what has been provisioned in Odoo

    We have been testing with some of our customers in production and the users absolutely love it. The productivity gains from a business perspective are insane and the savings outweighs the cost of AI subscriptions

    Regards,
    Naran

    I had some trouble to connect the container with my odoo instance which was also running in docker, but after adding the container do my compose file and configured in claude to attach to the running container, everything was working.

    {

      "isUsingBuiltInNodeForMcp": true,

            "odoo_mcp"

          ]

        }

      }

    }

    All tests I did was only with the small demo Database, but the following action worked in the free claude plan:

    I was also able to print a list of all female employees, which were identified by “typical female first names”, which is a valid approach.

    I also asked to give me the highest sale order, which also returned the correct result.

    Also writing to the Odoo database was working. When asking to answer the ticket with the id 22 (“What's the best kitchen cabinet varnish for your home?”) resulted in a reply on this ticket. But because my prompt was not very clear, I’ve got a perfect general answer on kitchen cabinet varnish. After asking Claude to take the available Products into account, there answer referenced the available products including prices, which would be a more likely expected answer to this question.

    Tests with complex generic questions, like to create a financial report on the odoo data, failed because it did not fit into the Claude free plan.

    Another downside of this solution is for sure the security. I’ve connected the MCP Server as admin/admin. Therefore the answer of the Ticket was also posted by the admin. When you integrate the MCP server into your company portal chatbot, it would be much better, when it would act as the current user and not with a service account to make sure that no information is leaked which the user does not have access to.

    Best regards,

    Christopher

    Would anyone here be available to implement this?

    What is the best place where people can advertise Odoo related work/bounties ?

    hello,

    diogo, indeed, odoo’s google_recaptcha module doesn’t work for registrations of new users. we’ve just created a module for this very problem for one of our clients. here it is: https://github.com/OCA/server-auth/pull/809

    it uses recaptcha v2 (keys to be configured in the website settings), which is based on a challenge presented to the user (while google_recaptcha uses recaptcha v3, which only returns a score and it’s up to the website owner to decide on the minimum acceptable score). the downside of recaptcha v2 is that it’s sometimes hard for humans to pass the challenge and that users train google’s ai models in exchange of the service.

    indeed, i think that cloudflare’s turnstile looks more promising in that regard and would thus be a better replacement, if someone feels up to the task.

    axel, do you know whether website_cf_turnstile protects the registration form too (unlike google_recaptcha)?

    But your website seems to be not using anything at all to protect the spam account registrations

    During some time now, my website www.relationalgames.com has been under the generosity of someone with probable access to a large database of user emails.

    I would love to understand who this might be and reach out to them, while at the same time, prevent that such operations take place without my consent.

    I have now more that 5000 users registered in the website, though none of them is an active user, even though the email domains do seem to exist.

    I would like to block bots from signing up or asking for password regenerations through the website, unless they have my permission to do it.

    I've tried to activate Google Recaptcha, but it doesn't seem to work for this scenario.

    Any thoughts or suggestions?

    HI Harsh,

    We don't at this stage at a set of guidelines like you are asking for - I can put it on the to do list for some stage in the future.
    I think if you make sure to link to the modules etc on the OCA app store or repositories then people will be led back to the creators, contributors etc as it stands.

    I'll try to remember to keep you posted when we get some guidelines together.

    Let us know when you have created something  - thanks for the enthusiasm!

    Warmest regards,

    Thank you so much for your warm and helpful response — I truly appreciate your time and support.

    Yes, I will make sure to properly credit the OCA by including links to the respective modules, referencing the maintainers when known, and displaying the OCA logo and website on both my YouTube videos and website content. My goal is to contribute positively to the community by spreading awareness and making it easier for others to adopt and understand the excellent work done by the OCA and its contributors.

    Since many modules are maintained by various individuals and companies, it can be quite challenging to reach out to each of them individually for permission, especially for larger or older repositories. With that in mind, I’d like to kindly ask if the OCA has any official or general content usage guidelines or a common approval policy I can refer to.

    This would help ensure that my content remains compliant with the OCA’s expectations and also act as a reference in case there are any concerns raised in the future. Having something official would provide me peace of mind and clarity when creating and publishing educational material around OCA modules.

    Once again, thank you for the incredible work the OCA team does — I’m excited to help promote and support the community through quality educational content.

    Warm regards,

    Hi Harsh,

    Thanks for reaching out.
    I did see your other email come through internally but we lost the link somehow.
    My understanding is people are free to talk about and share OCA Modules. As you've mentioned it would be great to ensure credit is given where credit is due - so you can link back to the modules and creators/maintainers who have done the work creating them and of course mentioning/tagging the OCA will help raise awareness of our association and the awesome contributions of the whole.
    Maybe specific people/companies may want something more in terms of recognition but I will let them discuss with you if that issue arises with different modules.

    Hopefully that helps.
    Warmest regards,
    Rebecca

    It looks like there are a couple of extra spots we might be able to have so please so get in touch with me ASAP - message me directly rebecca@odoo-community.org and I will do my best to figure things out further with Odoo.

    I would need to know by Thursday (24th July) this week as they are doing the final printing of booths etc.

    Come join the community at Odoo XP! Making Odoo Mightier, Together!

  • Important: Odoo to Introduce 25% Legacy Version Fee Starting April 2026

    ⚠️Important Changes to Odoo Licensing Terms & Conditions ⚠️

    Hello,

    Sodexis team wants to make sure you're aware of an important update just announced by Odoo that could impact your Odoo license subscription costs starting in April 2026.

    Odoo has introduced a new long-term support policy that now offers continued support for all past versions. Accordingly, starting in April 2026, Odoo will apply a +25% additional fee on subscriptions for any Odoo version older than three releases (i.e., Odoo V16 or earlier). The additional fee will be calculated based on your annual subscription cost and applied annually, regardless of your contract duration (monthly, annual, 2-year, 3-year, etc.)

    👉 This change applies to all customers, regardless of whether you're hosted on Odoo.sh or On-Premise.

    You can read the full announcement directly from Fabien Pinckaers (Odoo CEO) here:

    🔗 LinkedIn Post – Full Details

    To help you plan ahead, we recommend reviewing your current Odoo upgrade timeline & plans if you're in V16 or below. If you're currently running Odoo V16 or below, this new fee will apply unless you're upgraded before April 2026.

    If you'd like to discuss how this impacts your business or start planning your migration, our team is here to help.

    Best,

    Fabiana, for the Sodexis Team.

    Dear Remi,

    You can try using this script.

    I use it for rapid deployment of odoo 17 and 18.

    Recommendations
    1. Choose the option for the odoo version option 1 (odoo 17), option 2 (odoo 18)
    2. If it detects an old install choose the option to remove and install a new one
    Optional, the second script automates nginx based on installation of the first script, recommended to start with http nginx (option3) before using https.

    Do not forget to make the script installable "sudo chmod +x install_odoo_17_18.sh" and same for the nginx script.

    Kindly give your feedback if you have any issues. (it works well on debian).

    Best regards,
    Abdulbasit Suleiman

    Hi,

    First, I would recommand to install a bare odoo CE, and get it work before installing other addons.

    Then, to get help, give us the procedure you are following to install odoo CE on your Linux Mint distribution and tell us which steps fails.

  • Stock Receipts Excess stock rerouting
    Hello!

    We have the following scenario:

    A  warehouse in Odoo 17 has multiple locations where a product can go, a main one and then secondary locations.

    Locations have a physical limit as to how much stock of the product they can have.

    We want Odoo to behave the following way:

    Let's say product INCOMING can go to either WH/Stock/Main or WH/Stock/Secondary, with the first location being the preferred one. Both Main and Secondary have a max capacity of 20 units of product INCOMING.

    We have a pending receipt of 30 units of product INCOMING. We'd like for the system to create first a stock.move.line for 20 Units into WH/Stock/Main, and a second stock.move.line for the remaining 10 units into WH/Stock/Secondary.

    We explored using Enterprise's storage categories for this, but they don't behave at all like we need them to. In the scenario described above, since 30 is larger than 20, then the putaway rules with the assigned storage category gets ignored outright.

    Any recommendations on how to achieve the desired behavior?

    Thanks!

  • Install external dependency for runbot on PR

    Hi everyone,

    So we followed Graeme's recommendation to post the Andorran accounting support module as a PR to Odoo core: <https://github.com/odoo/odoo/pull/218851>

    Runbot's ci/template check fails in the "Testing migration from 17.0 to 18.0..." child task with several "module l10n_ad: not installable, skipped" warnings then error "Some modules have inconsistent states, some dependencies may be missing: ['l10n_ad']". I tried to install my module locally in 18.0 and it failed because installation of account_peppol failed with "External dependency phonenumbers not installed: No package metadata was found for phonenumbers". This was already reported as <https://github.com/odoo/odoo/issues/197857>, and a related merged PR in 18.0 adds an external dependency for account_peppol on Python package phonenumbers. When I installed phonenumbers locally, I was able to install my l10n_ad module.

    So my doubt here is: how can I tell runbot to install the phonenumbers Python package for my PR's checks? I guess I may try to add an external dependecy to my module's manifest on phonenumbers, but it feels kind of dirty to add Python dependencies here for a module so deep in the module dependency tree.

    (Alternatively, is there a way to tell runbot this is a 17.0-only module? Maybe via the modules version field?)

    Any suggestions? Thanks a lot!

    Cheers,

    No it doesn't protect it, there will be things that need to be done to integrate it but I like it more since it has more stable api(not a lot of changes) than google recaptcha and simple to use by the end user while secure

    it uses recaptcha v2 (keys to be configured in the website settings), which is based on a challenge presented to the user (while google_recaptcha uses recaptcha v3, which only returns a score and it’s up to the website owner to decide on the minimum acceptable score). the downside of recaptcha v2 is that it’s sometimes hard for humans to pass the challenge and that users train google’s ai models in exchange of the service.

    indeed, i think that cloudflare’s turnstile looks more promising in that regard and would thus be a better replacement, if someone feels up to the task.

    axel, do you know whether website_cf_turnstile protects the registration form too (unlike google_recaptcha)?
