legacy custom javascript field widgets in odoo 16

hello,

i’m wondering whether custom legacy javascript field widgets are still supported in odoo 16 as in previous versions or whether owl or es modules are mandatory. the documentation still states this to register a custom widget:

var fieldRegistry = require('web.field_registry');

fieldRegistry.add('my-custom-field', CustomFieldChar);

the web.field_registry is an instance of the legacy registry, but it seems that it is another registry that is used to find the widgets when parsing the xml view. because of this, it seems that custom widgets are not found (the warning Missing widget: ${widget} for field of type ${fieldType} appears in the console instead).

i didn’t find any information about this in the migration guide. what is supposed to be done to migrate custom widgets to odoo 16? i guess that ideally, custom widgets should be converted to owl and all javascript code should be converted to es modules. however, what are the minimal needed changes?

Keep in mind this is a voluntary position and adjust expectations accordingly.

weeks is not long for a low activity repo like this one.

review/test other people's work, I don't see you doing any of this.
Maintainers also tend to appreciate picking up things like
https://github.com/OCA/l10n-germany/pull/110
if you want to get a standing there to join the group of maintainers 
eventually.

Who maintains l10n-germany OCA repository?

Repos update

Hi everyone,

I launched an update of all repos (branches 12 - 16) to apply the latest repo template.

PSCs, your help may be needed to handle cases where a manual intervention is required. Look for PRs with title dotfiles update needs manual intervention.

These are mostly due to manual updates to files otherwise generated from the template. We should try to avoid them as much as possible, so if you really need some manual changes, please open an issue on github.com/oca/oca-addons-repo-template to discuss adding options to the template.

Thanks for quick fix

With letsencrypt, you are supposed to receive an email before cert expires https://letsencrypt.org/docs/expiration-emails/

Then, the challenge is to whitelist those automatic emails as they might go into your spams...

Our good practise is to setup an odoo project alias in letsencrypt account and then a task is automatically created (with notification to the team) when the expiring email is received...
